WEEKEND WORKSHOP SCHEDULE
Welcome to our 2024 Weekend Workshop Schedule, geared for those who are not local to Asheville NC or those who do not have the time to come for 8 weeks of instruction. These workshops run for two 3 hour sessions per day with some breathing room in-between sessions. The Mountain Metalsmiths School also offers one on one training with the Orion Welders. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you wish to make an appointment for one on one training.
March 22-24: "I Made It Myself!"- Have you imagined a jewelry design in your head but lack the skills to create it? Or perhaps your silversmithing skills are WAY too rusty? You will learn how to use a jeweler's saw, how to anneal and work harden metal, work with hammers, pliers and files. Students will get to explore soldering with professional level torches in a SAFE manner. There is also the opportunity to create a design incorporating a bezel set stones. ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME Silver and stones are extra. You may bring your own materials if you'd like, but they are subject to teachers' approval for suitability with novice skills. Tuition: $405 plus a $7 lab fee. Maximum number of students: 3

May 17-19: "Wax Carving for Lost Wax Vacuum Casting"- This workshop will give you an opportunity to carve a wax jewelry design using burs, files, and even dental tools. You will learn how to prepare the carved wax for casting. The design will be cast in sterling silver and then you will learn how to finish the casting for ready to wear. No stones or gold will be used in these designs. Tuition: $405 Casting Fee: $15 plus the cost of sterling silver casting grain. Maximum number of students: 2

August 17-18: "Arc and Spark" - is a workshop geared to get the jeweler comfortable with miniature tig welding using the Orion Welders, learning to problem solve, from tack welding components together before construction, learn fabrication skills with the Orion welders, and how to go approach various repairs at the bench. Curious about the Permanent Jewelry phenomenon? Check out our in-house mPulse30 welder that we have here to make an educated decision before jumping in. If you have your own Orion model, feel free to bring it with you to learn on your own machine. We have plenty of argon here for you to use with your welder. Don't forget to bring filler or laser wire for welding, preferably 26 gauge or finer. Tuition: $195 Maximum number of students: 3

IMPORTANT NOTE: For those jewelers who would like the opportunity to work one-on-one on the Orion Welders with our certified welding instructor, the cost will be $185 per day per person. The scheduled time will be agreed upon by both the jeweler and the instructor.
